The Tractor Family
Twenty years ago Judy Hyman,
Jeff Claus,
and Richie Stearns
played for our second Lady of the Lake! Since then this dynamic group has traveled
many roads, fusing traditional music with rock and roll and more.
The Horseflies
set standards that few groups have reached since. They come back as a
wonderful dance band adding
Mark Murphy and
Larry Unger. Judy Hyman
needs little introduction. She is a high energy, experimental, driving
violinist who will carry us through many wonderful lake nights. Richie
Stearns is way beyond a banjo player - he has redefined banjo. Get ready
for Richie as the Human Fly. Jeff Claus, ex-college professor, brings
a lot of sense and necessary ambiguity as he holds these two together
with his solid back up sound. Mark Murphy and Larry Unger are seasoned
musicians who add to the full sound that makes the Tractor Family.
Notorious
Storming the country, this rendition of Notorious has familiar faces to
Lady of the Lake. Larry Unger,
veteran guitar player, has put together a
wonderful dance band. No doubt they will play some of his great tunes.
Professor of stuntology, Sam Bartlett will wow us with amazing tricks both
on the mandolin as well as in camp. And finally newcomer Eden
MacAdam-Somer plays amazing fiddle. This young musician has a hefty
background in classical as well as folk music. This band will truly
move you!
The Grace Sisters
Perfect harmonies are hard to come by, but not with these two sisters.
Returning to Lady of the Lake,
Leela and Ellie
are young but seasoned
performers - they grew up playing and singing with their performing
parents in the Midwest. At camp, they will astound you with their
singing, make you move your feet with their clogging, and even teach you
some old time Missouri tunes. Hurray, they are back! Learn more about them at their
My Space site.
Becky Hill
For over 20 years, Becky Hill has been teaching, calling, and writing
contra dances throughout the Midwest and beyond. A favorite of Lady of
the Lake, she brings wonderful insights about dance to her workshops. At
camp this year, she will offer dance composition as well as a couple of
contradance classes.
Seth Tepfer
Making his first appearance at Lady of the Lake, Seth Tepfer has been
calling in the Atlanta area for over 10 years. Connecting hearts, souls
and music, Seth offers contras, squares and even folk dances!
He is our go-to guy and will offer several dance workshops this
summer.
Ken Glastre.
Our soul man returns to temper the sound and offer a song. What would we
do without this gifted man!
