Program Highlights
Our goal during this week is to create a safe and caring community where families can
interact in healthy, positive ways through participation in traditional arts. Our daily
schedule includes three age-based workshops along with two all-community gatherings.
At the end of the day, time is set aside for swimming, sailing, hiking, and just relaxing.

Darryl Thomas and Valerie Bergman
It seems we just can't get enough of these two! Darryl and Valerie return to
offer their eccletic and exacting dance offerings including
hip hop, salsa, African and more. Darryl and Valerie are the principals of the
Rainbow Dance Theatre. They have extensive professional
experience in modern dance and ballet. Their theater is cutting edge, fusing
contemporary dance with elements of traditional dance and pop.
Most importantly, they are unbelievable teachers! Visit their website at
www.rainbowdancetheatre.org.

The vampire returns! Yes, Naomi is back with her unique selection of Israeli
folk dances. She spent several years in Israel, where she received her
certification at the prestigous Wingate Sports Institute. The ultimate
teacher, Naomi will get you dancing in step in no time!
Sue Hulsether
Sue returns to teach our children dances from the country dance tradition.
These include squares, reels, contras, and party dances. Hailing from
Wisconsin, Sue has a true knack for engaging kids of any age. She also
loves to flat foot clog. See her webpage at http://arts.state.wi.us/static/tour-aie/dance6.htm.

Karen Wilson
Since Karen was last at Lady of the Lake, she has made quite a name for herself.
She is now Dr. Wilson, with a well deserved PHD in African-American studies. In
addition, she has developed a name in "show biz" singing in plays and night clubs
and performing for NPR. We are so thrilled to have Karen back to teach us songs,
including spirituals, blues and even hollars. Her storytelling is divine - weaving
song, history, and culture into unforgetable stories. Born in Harlem, Karen now
lives in Riverside, California. See a video of Karen performing on YouTube.
Greg and Jere Canote
The heart and soul of Lady of the Lake return with their magic. Greg and Jere
make our family gatherings a celebration of community and
more. These identical twins from Seattle sing and play into your hearts. Goofy
songs, leading our children to bed, hammering out old
time music, playing swing tunes late at night, and even mastering card games -
these two do it all at Lady of the Lake. |

Molly Adolfae and Kari Richards
Oh boy! You guys are going to have so much fun with art this year. Molly
Adolfae returns after eight years to offer art to our 7-9 year olds and 10-12
year olds. From Spokane, Molly embodied art for the first ten years
of Family Week. Her all-camp projects are legendary! Kari Richards from Seattle
will offer art to our 4-6 year olds and will keep them busy journaling and living life
in another workshop.
Cathie Whitesides
A Lady of the Lake favorite, Cathie returns to play fiddle for many of our dance
opportunities. Besides being a wonderful player, she is a great
teacher. She will work with our adults and teens to help them learn more
about playing. Cathie hails from Seattle where she plays for
a variety of bands, including New England, Greek, and Irish.
Mel Luedders
Mel has worn many hats while on staff at Lady of the Lake. This year she
will watch over our "wee little ones" - providing activities for the
parent co-op and kids ages 3 and under. In addition, she will work with our 4-6 year olds. Mel lives in Spokane, where she heads up a young children's program.

Penn Fix
Founder of Lady of the Lake, Penn will offer his famous early morning contra
class for adults and teens. They are always fun, even when you are half
awake! Penn also is from Spokane where he has been calling dances for nearly 30
years!
Pat & Vickie Marron
Long time committee members of Lady of the Lake, this versatile duo will provide
sound for our workshops as well as play some wonderful
tunes. They hail from north Idaho and come out of the woods every so often to
play hearty and heartfelt music.
Carolyn Hatch
Carolyn from Salt Spring Island, BC returns to offer violin tutorials to young
and old. Bring your fiddle and she can get you going in no time.
